Switching from Clubworx
Clubworx is the Australian incumbent, and it does a lot. It also charges per module: the member app and grading both sit outside the base plan, so the number you signed up for isn't the number you pay.
grappl.club is built for jiu-jitsu specifically, by a Melbourne BJJ gym, and everything we've built is in the one price. We're also a much smaller product — this page says exactly where that shows.
Clubworx figures are its published Australian list pricing as at September 2026; check clubworx.com for current numbers before you decide. We haven't published a price list yet — we're onboarding gyms one at a time and quote directly.
| Clubworx | grappl.club | |
|---|---|---|
| Base plan | A$109 / A$149 / A$169 per month by tier | One flat monthly price, every feature included |
| Member app | +A$100 per month | No member app at all yet — see the gaps below |
| Grading | +A$10 per month | Belts, stripes and promotion history included |
| Cut of member payments | No platform percentage published; direct debit runs through Ezidebit, whose dishonour fees are charged to the member | None — we don't touch your members' payments at all, because we don't process them yet |
| Contract | Month to month | Month to month |
Attach the techniques you're teaching to each class on the schedule, then open any student and see which of them they've actually been in the room for. Clubworx has no equivalent — and neither does anyone else we've looked at.
Adult and kids belt ladders with stripes, dated promotion history per student, and time-on-belt visible at a glance. Clubworx's grading module is an add-on and counts sessions rather than modelling stripes properly.
Class kinds are gi, no-gi, open mat, kids and competition team, because that's the vocabulary of an academy. Clubworx is a generalist fitness product that a BJJ gym has to bend into shape.
Define the statuses your gym actually uses and keep coach notes against a student's profile. Both are in the base product.
There's no tier where the app appears, no surcharge for grading, and no percentage of your members' payments. What you see is the whole bill.
Tap your name on the iPad at the door. Both products have a kiosk; ours is the surface the whole product is designed around, and it's how our own gym runs.
The honest part
We're a small product built by one Melbourne jiu-jitsu gym. These are real gaps today, not features hidden behind a sales call. If one of them is how your gym runs, don't switch yet.
Clubworx does recurring billing with Ezidebit. We do none — no direct debit, no invoices, no payment tracking. You'd keep collecting money however you do now. This is the biggest thing we're missing and it's the next thing we're building.
Clubworx sells one for +A$100 a month. We don't have one at any price. Your members' only touchpoint with grappl.club today is the kiosk at the door.
Every student is a separate record. If your kids program is full of siblings on one parent's account, Clubworx handles that and we don't yet.
Clubworx has lead management and messaging. We have an enquiry form and nothing that sends to members. Follow-up stays in your inbox for now.
Clubworx ships dozens of report templates. We have dashboard counts, a per-student attendance heatmap, on-time rate and techniques seen. Useful, but not a reporting suite.
There's no CSV import and no one-click export. Moving a roster of 150 students with belt history isn't a button you can press today — ask us before you commit to a switch.
Anyone you give a login to sees everything. There's no coach-level account with reduced permissions.
Members don't book in. The timetable exists so you can run the room and record who turned up, not to cap a class.
If you're paying for Clubworx's app and grading add-ons, want lesson plans on your timetable, and you're happy to keep taking payments the way you do now, we're worth a conversation.
If member billing through the software is the reason you bought Clubworx in the first place, stay where you are — we'll tell you when that ships rather than sell you a plan.
Leave your email and we'll walk you through the product honestly, including the parts of this page that are still true.
